  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grind pistachios in a food processor until finely ground.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  5. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; stir into the batter alternately with the milk.
  6. Fold in the ground pistachios.
  7. Pour batter into a greased and floured 9x9 inch baking pan.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
